About Me
I'm a college journalism instructor and student media advisor. Before that, I spent 17 years in newspaper journalism at my hometown paper, The Anniston Star.
I started out covering police and public safety on the night shift, then covered K-12 schools and higher education along with a city government beat. From there I was briefly a business editor, then the city editor for my small daily. My last eight years in the newsroom were as managing editor, overseeing local and state news, features, sports and production, along with digital initiatives and social media.
In 2020, I joined the journalism faculty at my alma mater, Jacksonville State University, and in 2022 was named director of student media, helping the students who cover campus news and operate an FM radio station.
"I am not the editor of a newspaper and shall always try to do right and be good so that God will not make me one."
Mark Twain
